Pass Throughs
IAS specializes in the application of Through-Wall Pass Through Systems. Commonly known as Pass Throughs or Pass Thru’s, there are two basic types, Passive or Active. Both are wall-mounted cabinets that permit the transfer of materials from one space to a controlled space without loss of pressurization in the positive pressure room.
Types of Pass Throughs
The cabinet or chamber of a Pass Through System acts as an airlock, protecting the integrity of even the most critical cleanroom environments while allowing convenient access to adjoining rooms. There are two basic types of Pass Throughs: Passive (Static) or Active (Dynamic).
Passive Pass Throughs
Passive Pass Throughs are chambers with no airflow or filtration. Typically, these pass-throughs are non-powered, using a mechanical device to interlock the two doors. Atmos-Tech uses a robust interlocking mechanism that locks out one door as soon as the other door is opened. This mechanism is located between the walls of the cabinet, as every Atmos-Tech Pass Through cabinet has double-wall construction.
Atmos-Tech Pass Through cabinets are constructed in 16-gage and 20-gage type 304 stainless steel, with #4 (brushed) finish on all exposed surfaces. This makes the Atmos-Tech Pass Through extremely robust and suited for repeated cleanings with alcohol and other disinfectants.
Active Pass Throughs
Active or Dynamic Pass Through Chambers have an integrated fan to move air through the chamber with laminar downflow movement. Dynamic Pass Throughs almost always have a High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) Filter to thoroughly filter the air before that air enters the chamber interior. For extreme applications, a HEPA-filter can be upgraded to an ULPA (Ultra-Low Penetration Air) filter.
Dynamic Pass Throughs (with Fan & HEPA filter) are offered in different arrangements, depending on the pressurization required. There are many features and options available on Atmos-Tech Dynamic Pass Throughs.Some of the more popular options include:

Atmos-Tech offers a complete product line of Cart Pass Throughs, with both passive and active arrangements. Cart Pass Throughs are customized to each client’s specific requirements. All the features and options that are available with any wall-mounted Pass Thru are also available for the cart Pass Through models.
While cart Pass Thru’s can be ordered with a floor, these models are most commonly provided without a floor. Airlock is achieved by means of adjustable rubber door sweeps. Contact IAS for any inquiries.
